Afrobeats Beat Tape


From August 2021 to May 2022, I curated and hosted a live FM radio show called ‘Afrobeats Beat Tape’ at the WNYU radio station in lower Manhattan. 90 minutes, uncensored Black music, every Wednesday night.

Standing on the anti-establishment ethos of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneers, a generation of digitally connected diasporans has synthesized a multiplicity of vibrant genres from the Mother continent, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe and the Americas to create a homegrown musical identity. The Afrobeats Beat Tape is both a love letter to and exploration of that African sonic diaspora. You're invited to tune in to the feel-good funk of curated Afrobeat(s) selections, and join an ongoing celebration of Black international siblinghood, radical enjoyment, and good things coming to those who have waited.
